It is strongly recommend reviewing the Adoption Information page before you complete the Adoption Application. Every blank must have an answer for the application to be processed. Vague or incomplete answers will result in your application being eliminated without notice. Please review your application prior to submitting.

Some questions may involve study on your part. Make certain you double check every question! The parrots entrusted to our care come with a strong commitment of responsibility to assure that we place them in a solid, avian knowledgeable, financially stable, loving homes. We ask probing questions, in so much as some of the parrots we re-home have already experienced trauma and hardship. We do everything within our power to prevent history from repeating itself. The vast majority of parrots surrendered to our care come from wonderful homes and we are dedicated to maintain that level of superb care.

The adoption donation applies differently to each bird and is based on the following factors: species, age, feathering, temperament, and history. Adoption fees range from about $200-$900 and are generally about half (1/2) or less of what a parrot retails for in a pet store, breeder, or avian pet shop by itself. At Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue, Inc. we provide you with, in this adoption donation, a cage,toys, perches and your bird included with much more knowledge than you will get at a for profit establishment. Your tax deductible gift goes to the care and operating costs of the birds.

Providing proof of residence such as a utility bill, driver's license, lease agreement, proof of ownership are necessary at the time of in-house interview. Please be prepared to provide all of the applicable items.

Our [AZEBR] adoption contract reflects the fact that we make a lifetime commitment to our birds. In the event the adopting party would become seriously ill or death would occur, we require that the bird be returned to Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue, Inc., care. Our birds cannot be willed or placed in the care of family or friends without prior written consent of a member of our board of directors. If, for any reason, you can no longer care for the bird(s) they must be returned to Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue, Inc. You will be asked to agree in writing never to sell, give, donate, or re-home any of our birds

A home study is generally done to assist us in making our decision in the placement of our exotic birds. Seeing the environment where the bird will be living and meeting the people and pets residing in the home helps us determine what bird would fit best in your family. Furthermore, this allows you to answer questions we may have in person as well as seek our advice on matters concerning the care of exotic birds.

In the event a home study is to be scheduled, we will notify you in advance and allow you to set a time best fitting your schedule. Additionally, we ask that you donate a minimum of $25.00 in advance of our visit to cover our expenses. Donations are non-refundable and do not guarantee an applicant’s approval.

Our all-volunteer staff receives no monitory compensation of any kind. 100% of the funds donated go directly to the care of the exotic birds and trusted to AZEBR.
